Delete Your Account

You can delete your DevBrief account at any time. The easiest way is directly from the app. This page explains both options and what happens to your data.
Delete from the App (Recommended)
If you have the DevBrief app installed, you can delete your account in a few taps:
- Open the DevBrief app and go to Settings (profile/settings tab).
- Scroll to the bottom to the account actions.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Read the notice, then tap Delete my account to confirm.
Your account and associated data are permanently deleted immediately. You will be signed out. This action cannot be undone.
Request Deletion by Email
If you cannot access the app (e.g., you no longer have the device or the app installed), you can request account deletion by email:

Subject: Delete Account
Include: your account email address and a clear confirmation that you want to delete your account. We may ask for additional verification for security.
We will process email requests within 30 days as described in the Deletion Timeframe section below.
What Data Will Be Deleted
When you delete your account, we will permanently delete the following information:
- Account Information: Your email address, account preferences, authentication credentials, and profile data
- Reading History: All articles you have read, saved, or bookmarked within the app
- Bookmarks: Your saved and bookmarked stories
- Preferences: Your personalized news preferences, reading patterns, and app settings
- Comments: Any comments you have posted in the app
- Usage Data: Your interaction history, feature usage, and app activity data
- Device Information: Device tokens for push notifications and device-specific settings
- Local Storage Data: Data stored locally on your device remains until you uninstall the app
Note: Once your account is deleted, this information cannot be recovered. Please ensure you have exported any data you wish to keep before requesting deletion.
What Data May Be Retained
For legal, tax, and regulatory compliance purposes, we may retain certain information even after your account is deleted:
- Transaction Records: Payment and subscription transaction history required for tax and accounting purposes
- Legal Obligations: Information we are required to retain by law, such as records of fraudulent activity or legal disputes
- Anonymized Data: Aggregated, anonymized data that cannot be used to identify you personally, which we may use for analytics and service improvement
All retained data will be kept in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and will not be used for any purpose other than those stated above.
Deletion Timeframe
From the app: Your account and data are deleted immediately when you confirm deletion in the app.
By email: We process email deletion requests within 30 days. You can expect:
- Confirmation (1-3 business days): We will confirm that we have received your deletion request
- Processing (within 30 days): We verify your identity and delete your account and associated data
- Completion: A final confirmation that your account has been deleted
Subscriptions: Deleting your account does not cancel a DevBrief Premium subscription billed through Apple or Google. To stop future charges, cancel your subscription in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; Android: Google Play Store → Subscriptions). We do not refund any unused portion of a subscription.
Before You Delete
Before requesting account deletion, please consider:
- This action is permanent and irreversible
- You will lose access to all your saved articles, reading history, and preferences
- If you have an active subscription, cancel it in your device settings to avoid future charges (we do not cancel it for you)
- You will need to create a new account if you wish to use DevBrief again in the future
Alternative Options
If you're not sure about deleting your account, consider these alternatives:
- Disable Push Notifications: You can turn off notifications in your device settings or within the app
- Cancel Subscription: If you have a subscription, you can cancel it without deleting your account
- Clear Reading History: You can manually clear your reading history and preferences within the app
- Contact Support: If you have concerns or issues, our support team at [email protected] may be able to help resolve them
